A Storytelling and Communication Workshop

Macomb’s Bridge Library | New York Public Library

The Connected Conversation is a storytelling and communication workshop led by writer and producer Amon Focus at the New York Public Library. Amon is a cultural journalist and the creator of New York Said, a storytelling project featuring hundreds of interviews with artists, thinkers, and everyday New Yorkers.

This class is about learning how to ask better questions, listen with real intention, and tell better stories.

Whether you’re speaking with a stranger, colleague, friend, loved one, or someone you hope to interview for a podcast, documentary, profile, or article, the same principles apply. The goal is to learn how to get on the same page with people, recognize what lights them up, and become a student of the person you’re speaking with.

Everything we cover in class is on this page. Come back to it whenever you need it.
